Jon Lester lead Lead Red Sox to Victory in Game 4

Boston Red Sox win the world series

In his first career postseason start, lefty Jon Lester held the Rockies to three hits over five and two-thirds innings for the win. Lester who had been battling cancer less than a year ago had not started a game in over a month. Jonathan Papelbon completed the seven-hitter for his third save of the series. Papelbon retired all five Rockies he faced. He did not allow a run in 10 and two-thirds innings in the postseason.

For the second time in four years, the Boston Red Sox sit at the pinnacle of the baseball world. After going eighty six years without a World Series title, the Red Sox now have won two of the last four in most impressive fashion.

The Red Sox dominated Colorado, a team that came into the World Series having won 21 of 22 games. Boston outscored the Rockies 29-10 in the four-game sweep. Boston has seven World Series titles, which is fourth on the all-time list.

The Red Sox’ title continues a New England resurgence in sports. The Patriots are unbeaten in the NFL, Boston College is unbeaten and ranked second in college football and the Boston Celtics have high hopes after acquiring Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett for the upcoming NBA season.

World Series MVP Mike Lowell hit a seventh-inning home run to give Boston a 3-0 lead. Lowell batted .400 while scoring six runs and driving in four in the sweep.

Lowell had called himself “the throw-in” in the 2005 deal with Florida that brought ace Josh Beckett to Boston. Lowell also won a World Series while in Florida. He says he’s on “cloud nine” with his second World Series title.

Bobby Kielty added a pinch-hit homer in the eighth for the Red Sox’ winning margin. The Red Sox as a team batted .333 in the World Series, compared to a bad .218 for the Rockies.

sox geter done again in game 2

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

The Boston Red Sox get it done one more time in game 2 of the 2007 World Series. Even though it was nearly the blow out of game one. The series started out with 2 games in Boston and then will go to Colorado for 3 games if needed then back to Boston for the final 2 again if it is needed. Curt Schillings was the starting picture and he did a tremendous job considering his age. He may have lost some speed but his intelligence as a picture is hard to match. Anyway the Red Sox take their club full of whoop a__ on the road to Denver. There will have to be adjustments to the cold and the thin air. Dice K is schedule to be the starting picture in game 3.

Bonds’ next team?

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

Who will Barry Bonds play for next baseball season? I’m pretty sure it will not be for the San Francisco Giants. Even though not proven of having taken steroids, many fans are irate and are not afraid of letting Barry hear it by booing. Whatever team the Giants played this year saw a sellout and/or record attendance. Apparently Barry has done something right because as Barry approached Hank Aaron’s record, people brought signs in saying “Cheater! Cheater!” and other insults. I think the commissioner of baseball believed Barry cheated because he attended the games up to the point when Barry tied Aaron’s record. It was because he had to. He really didn’t want to acknowledge Barry’s grand achievement. The days after the record was tied the commissioner was nowhere in sight because he was at a “meeting”. If anyone actually watched the commissioner’s reaction when Barry tied the record it was one of absolute disbelief. Then he finally began to give Barry the credit he deserved because the steroid rumors at the time had not been proven to be true so he didn’t have anything else to really say but to say Congratulations. Also, I like Hank’s message to Bonds on the big jumbotron after the record was broken. I think Barry will retire because San Francisco used Barry to get glory out of the new home run king news. Either way it goes, San Francisco Giants merchandise was sold at a record pace. Now they’re dumping him. I don’t think other teams and especially national league teams will take a chance of someone like Bonds ruining their franchise’s name.

Red Sox Roll in Game 1

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

The Boston Red SoxSox dominated the use to be on a roll Colorado Rockies Wednesday night in Boston. A 13 - 1 whooping is about the best way to describe it.

Around 10 pm central time, the Rockies roll was over. Even though the game was in the fifth inning at that time. The whooping had begun . Kenny Rogers was singing to Colorado about knowing when to fold them. The first four innings were not great for the Rockies but the fifth may have been the inning that shut the door on any hope of ever coming back. The RSoxSox rocked Jeff Francis for six runs on ten hits. Francis pitched 103 pitches . They brought in Franklin Morales to back up Francis and it did not get much better.

The Rockihollardhollardor tonight’s game. Good luck to you Colorado it can’t get any worst.

Red Sox win the AL Pennant

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Matsuzaka and Okajima stood on the mound posing for pictures with Boston general manager Theo Epstein, a Japanese flag and the American League championship trophy. These two Red Sox rookies came from Japan just for the World Series. Just 3 years after ending its 86 year title drought, Boston completed another October comeback by beating the Cleveland Indians 11-2 in game 7 of the ALCS. They will now face the Colorado Rockies in the World Series that will start this Wednesday night in Boston. Most of the Red Sox this time were not around for the win in 2004. Expect an exciting World Series this year.

Paul Byrd Falsely Accused by Unscruplous Reporter

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

Paul Byrd has been accused by the press of taking Human growth hormones. Even though he did not owe it to anyone he replied to these unscrupulous people on Sunday prior to game 7 of the American League Championship. He said we was being treated for a tumor on his pituitary gland, and that he took the drug under a medical supervision. He did absolutely nothing illegal. The true tragedy is the timing of this story. He will be in the bullpen tonight and doesn’t want anything to distract his team.

he was quoted as saying, “I have not taken any hormone apart from a legitimate doctor’s care and supervision. My team, my coaches and MLB have known that I have had a pituitary gland issue for some time and have assisted me in getting blood tests in different states. I recently found out from an MRI that I have a tumor on my pituitary gland. I am currently working with an endocrinologist and will have another MRI on my head after the season to make sure that the tumor hasn’t grown.”

I personally want to wish all the best and may the Good Lord be with him. And would also like to say shame on this reported who is willing to say anything for a story.

Good Luck Paul Byrd

MLB Playoffs

Saturday, October 20th, 2007

The Colorado Rockies have gotten into the playoffs the hard way. They now won 21 of 22 games. They won the tiebreaker with the San Diego Padres. The Denver fans are not talking about their Denver Broncos either. They’re constantly asking about a Rockies team that hasn’t won that many games in a 20 game span in their franchise which dates back to the middle 1990’s. They are doing all of the small things right. They are getting timely hitting. I have never seen that kind of streak in my years of viewing baseball. Look around. All you see and hear is the talk of the Colorado Rockies’ miraculous season-ending streak that got them in the playoffs. They have only lost one game since September 15. Denver, CO was once just a football city. Since the Broncos are falling downhill fast, I guess the city of Denver needs some other team to root for. Their fans add to the Rockies wins. They are loud. All you can see is Colorado Rockies jerseys and pompoms. Some people bought a watch that showed off their wildcard team. Many have bought extra merchandise online. Some people bought Rockies souvenirs for their loved ones.
