Mitchell Report

Friday, December 21st, 2007

Steroids. Steroids. Steroids. That’s all that was on sports channels after the Mitchell Report came out several days ago.

The Mitchell Report is a hundred plus sheets of paper that were stapled together and had many different people’s version of steroid talks in it.

It basically is a he said, she said type of thing. It’s very alarming when a high profile name like Roger Clemens come in the report. In fact, he is talked about in approximately eight pages of the book. It doesn’t matter about Clemens because the Yankees fans will continue to buy New York Yankees merchandise that has the current and past players names on it, whether or not they are involved with using performance enhancing substances.

There were several dozen baseball players named in all. A couple of the players named will not play at the start of the next baseball season because they are already serving a suspension for steroid use.

It’s really a shame that some of the players were ratted out. The baseball players, who are ultimately the role models to others, should have better judgment and avoid such risky behaviors.

Some players tend to forget the cons of using steroids. The cons certainly outweigh the one pro and that it makes your game better.

Trade Rumors

Friday, December 7th, 2007

For some reason this year there aren’t that many trade talks brewing like there normally are. A staff of people met in Nashville, Tennessee to discuss matters in baseball. It was their annual winter meeting. In years past there were trade rumors coming from almost every team. This year it seems as if the best teams are the ones making the most noise. You would think that the best teams would try to keep their whole team intact and not try to break up what could be a World Series championship caliber team. That’s what some teams are doing. I like what the Detroit Tigers are doing and maybe that will help the Detroit Tigers merchandise sales. They are establishing themselves as the frontrunner of the American League central division. The Boston Red Sox are talking about trading Coco Crisp. What?! That’s completely outrageous. They have elite players at every position in baseball and they want to put that in jeopardy. I guess they know what they are doing. I just can’t seem to come to realize what flaws the Boston Red Sox have when they are the best team in baseball.
